I was a solopreneur a years ago and I had a lot of things going on. I had income streams and a growing audience and I had a lot of ideas for my business but I felt like I was in over my head. Every decision I made was a deal. Creating content for my business took a time. When I tried to plan my business strategy I just ended up going in circles. I was working a lot. My business was not moving forward as fast as I wanted it to.
Then something changed for me and my business. I started using AI in a way. I stopped using AI to write emails or create pictures and I started using AI as a partner to help me think. I did not see AI as a replacement for my thinking but as a partner that could help me work through tough problems and find solutions.
This change had an impact on my business. It was bigger than any class I took or any tool I used. It did not happen away though. It took a months of talking to AI and learning how to communicate with it in a way that worked for me. I had to build trust with AI and learn how to use it in a way that was helpful to me. Now AI is one of the important tools I use in my business.
In this article I want to tell you the story of how I started using AI in this way. I want to share what I learned and how you can start using AI as a partner in your business. I do not see AI as a shortcut. As a way to think through problems and find solutions.
The Moment Everything Changed
It started on a Sunday morning. I was sitting at my desk with a cup of coffee trying to figure out what to do with my business. Of trying to come up with a plan on my own I opened up Claude and I started typing. I said something like:
“Here is where I am now… Here are my goals, my fears and the things I am not sure about. Help me think through this.”
What happened next was really helpful. The AI did not just give me some advice. It asked me some questions and it helped me see some things that I had not thought of before. It helped me figure out what I really wanted. For the time I felt like I was not alone in my business.
That conversation with AI was really helpful. It gave me clarity than I had gotten from weeks of thinking about my business on my own. I realized that I had been using AI in the way. I had been giving it orders. I had not been having real conversations with it.
From that day on I made it a point to have conversations with AI, about my business every day. I did not just say “write this for me” I said “lets think about this together”. I used AI as a partner to help me think through problems and find solutions. I used AI to help me with my business. It was really helpful.

How I Built a Real Partnership with AI
The key was giving AI a lot of background information. I started feeding it everything about my business. I shared my values, my audience, my past successes and failures and my long-term goals. I created a document I call my “Business Brain” where I keep updating the AI with information.
At first the conversations were okay.. Over time they got much better. When I thought about a project I could ask the AI: “You know my audience and my past projects. What are the risks and opportunities here?” The AI gave me helpful answers because it had a lot of context.
The same thing happened with writing. Of asking for a blog post I would say: “I’ve been thinking about this idea. Here’s what I think and what I’ve seen. Help me explore it and find the way to share it.” The writing that came out felt more real and personal.
I also started using AI to help me think through decisions. When I was stuck on pricing, hiring or product direction I would share my thoughts. Ask the AI to challenge me. It helped me see things I might have missed and make confident decisions.
The Unexpected Benefits
What surprised me most wasn’t how time I saved. It was how better my thinking became.
My ideas got clearer. My content became more useful to my audience. My business decisions felt less emotional and more strategic. I even slept better because I wasn’t worrying about everything.
I also had creative energy. Because AI was handling some of the thinking I had more time for the parts of my work that need a human touch. Like vision, storytelling and relationships, with my audience.
Course I still made all the final decisions. The AI helped me think better. I still added my personal stories, emotions and perspective. The partnership made me a stronger thinker not an one.

How You Can Start Building Your AI Thinking Partner
You do not need to change your entire workflow right away. Start with something and build the relationship with the AI Thinking Partner slowly over time.
Begin by selecting one area where you feel stuck or overwhelmed. This could be creating content making a strategy or planning your day. Open a chat with the AI Thinking Partner and have a very honest and detailed conversation about it. Talk to the AI Thinking Partner like it is a colleague who already knows your business.
Give the AI Thinking Partner some context about your business. The more background information you share with the AI Thinking Partner, the better the partnership between you and the AI Thinking Partner will become. As time goes on you can create a thinking space” where you keep important information so the AI Thinking Partner remembers your goals and values.
Be patient with the AI Thinking Partner. The first conversations you have with the AI Thinking Partner might feel a little awkward. That is completely normal. Like any relationship it gets better when you communicate with the AI Thinking Partner consistently and honestly.
Importantly remember that you are in charge. Use the AI Thinking Partner to help you think not to replace your thinking. The good things happen when you combine your own unique perspective with the AI Thinking Partners ability to process information and find patterns.
Looking Back
If someone had told me two years ago that one of my valuable business relationships would be with an AI Thinking Partner I would have thought that was funny.. Today it feels like a completely normal thing.
The AI Thinking Partner has not replaced my creativity or my judgment. The AI Thinking Partner has actually made them better. The AI Thinking Partner has given me a partner that’s always available never gets tired and helps me become a better thinker and business owner.
The result is a business that feels easier to manage decisions that feel more clear and a life with time for the things that are most important to me.
If you are feeling overwhelmed. If you are just ready for a better way of working I want to encourage you to try this approach. Start with one conversation with the AI Thinking Partner. Treat the AI Thinking Partner like a thinking partner, not a tool. You might be surprised at how the relationship, between you and the AI Thinking Partner deepens and how much it changes your work. And your peace of mind.
